Kids' Movies - 6 Unforgettable Movies For Children

Picture
Kids' excitement whilst playing with their favourite toy dolls or movie action figures is only really understood once you have become a parent and see how obsessed children can be with their toys. Talking to the action figures as though they are real, there is rarely an example better demonstrated than this, of your child's imagination.

Fuelled by the actual events in the movies but sustained by their own imagination, action figures can continue to grow and thrive for years to come. However, this is not the case with every movie - just a select few, though the range is growing as technology becomes more advanced. Of the range there is now, there are six that are not only unforgettable for your child, but wonderful for you to watch too.

It is suggested that you watch the film first prior to screening it, should your child be under 4 years old - just in case there is something you may find unsuitable viewing for him or her.

1. Toy Story
This is a computer-animated film about a little boy named Andy and his toys which mysteriously come to life whenever he is not around. Woody, Andy's favourite cowboy toy doll becomes displaced from top toy position in favour of a new toy space ranger called Buzz Lightyear. Rivals until danger from outside puts them at peril, and they become effective partners to save themselves and the other toy characters in the film.

2. Stuart Little
The story of a mouse who is adopted by a family and treated as a human, this film is a combination of animation and real live acting with fabulous results. Stuart's adventures as his life takes an unexpected turn helped by the household cat, Snowbell, are enjoyable as is the predictable happy ending, where he and his family are reunited once again.

3. Horton Hears a Who
Based on the well-known Dr. Suess book of the same name, Horton is an elephant who, because of his big ears, can hear something no-one else can: voices that come from a speck that has been dislodged from its resting place on a protected flower. Contacting the people on the speck, Horton takes on the responsibility of finding a new home for the speck and the thousands of people living on it, but encounters problems because no-one believes him. With the strong moral "everyone is important no matter how small", this film is a delight to watch and one that your children will want to see over and over again.

4. Shrek
A modern day fairytale which takes place in the "far-far away kingdom", Shrek is a powerful creature known as Ogre who is forced to rescue a princess trapped in a tall tower guarded by a ferocious fire-breathing dragon. The noble theme "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" is evident at the end.

5. Ice Age
This animated story focuses on three prehistoric creatures - a sloth, a mammoth, and a Sabre-tooth Tiger - who embark on an adventure to save a lost baby. The humorous story focuses on the possibility of good friendships despite differences in individual characters.

6. Star Wars
It is hard to compare this film to the other five, however impossible to leave it out. Star Wars has been an all time movie favourite of both kids and parents for decades, mostly due to its amazing special effects, adventure scenes, and exciting sword fights. Robot and alien battles in outer space that are impossible not to enjoy. (Not really suited to younger children however).

Of course there are many more movies worth watching and which appeal to both adults and children alike. However, these six are guaranteed to please.
